What is...
The Non-diet Approach, Body-Led and Intuitively-based Eating
A Non-Diet or body-led approach is gentle. It allows you to build skills and confidence in your own ability to nourish your body, without the focus on weight loss or changing your body shape and size.
Unlike typical diets, the goals of this approach are to:
- Explore your body’s ability to look after itself
- Increase trust in food and nourishing your body
- Explore your body’s cues and your ability to notice and act on them (hunger, fullness, satisfaction)
- Decrease guilt and fear around food
- Encourage a neutral view of all foods where no foods are good or bad
- Encourage body respect and acceptance without the pursuit of weight loss
- Minimise the diet mentality and behaviours associated with dieting (counting, weighing, measuring, etc)
- Increase flexibility, compassion, and willingness to care for yourself
If this sounds like an approach that might work for you, I’d love to guide you.
Size and Weight-Inclusive Healthcare
Healthcare that is size and weight-inclusive aims to support people who wish to pursue health and well-being, without focusing on weight control.
It’s underpinned by the importance and belief that all bodies deserve to live their life free from stigma and discrimination.
Size and weight-inclusive healthcare view health and well-being as more complex than what we eat, exercise and weigh. And understands that the ability to access health is different for people based on their lived experience and social determinants of health.
Mindfulness & Mindful Eating
Mindful Eating is a practice that enables people to connect with eating and themselves in the present moment in a non-judgemental and curious way. It can help calm the chaos around eating and offer some insight into your eating behaviours.
