Medicare changes for Eating Disorders

Starting on November 1st, Medicare is introducing rebates for some people with Eating Disorders through an Eating Disorder Care Plan (EDP) which will allow rebates for up to 20 Dietetic and 40 Psychology sessions in a 12 month period. This will improve access to treatment for a lot of people experiencing eating difficulties. To access the Eating Disorder Plan, you need to see your GP who will assess you against eligibility criteria. For more information, Eating Disorders Victoria has put together a reference guide here.

Although the scheme will improve access for many people, it won’t be available to everyone. Please remember, you don’t have to meet these criteria to be worthy of treatment. If you would like to discuss your options, please get in touch with me
